why i paused my template launch to teach ai instEad

I had a website template lined up for this fall. I pressed pause. Here's why, and what I'm doing instead.

Short answer

I paused my Showit website template, Convene, until January 2027 so I could put all my energy into one thing this fall: helping business owners set up AI that actually sounds like them. I'm one person, and one launch done well beats two done halfway.

What I was building

Convene is a Showit website template for wedding planners and creatives. Soft, romantic, refined. It was planned for this fall, with a Black Friday push. It's still coming. It's just not coming now.

Showit template (plain English)A ready-made website design you buy, add your own words and photos to, and publish on Showit, a drag-and-drop website builder a lot of creatives use.

What changed

While I was rebranding my own business, I set up Claude to know my brand: who I serve, how I talk, what I sell. It changed how I work every single day. My emails, my captions, my weekly plan, even the app that runs my business all start from those files now.

And the more I talked about it, the more I heard the same thing back: "I tried AI, and it sounded like a robot." Not because AI is bad. Because nobody taught it who they are.

That's the part I can help with. I'm a brand strategist and I was a software engineer before that, so brand and tech are the two things I know best, together. A template helps one kind of business look good. Teaching people to give their AI a real brand helps every kind of business, and it starts with the same foundation I've always taught.

The honest part

I'm one person. I work 9 to 4, I'm a mom of two boys, and my husband runs his own business too. Launching a template and a bootcamp in the same season would mean doing both halfway.

I've learned that one the hard way. Twice I paused my own business to help at my husband's shop, The Coating Place, and both times it stalled everything here. So this time I picked one thing and gave it everything. I want to help people, but I also have to put food on the table, and focus is how I do both.

What happens now

  • Thu 12 Nov: The AI Open House, a $27 live class where I open my own Claude setup on screen.
  • Nov 17–19: Move-In Ready, my three-day live bootcamp: your brand written down, your Claude trained, your first AI employee.
  • January 2027: Convene comes back. I'll share the date on Instagram first.

If you're deciding too

If you've got two good ideas and only one of you, pick the one that helps the most people right now. Finish it. Then come back for the other one. Pausing isn't quitting. It's choosing.
